Fourth of July Grazing Board
Hey y’all! Sorry it’s been so long between blogs but Happy Fourth of July! If you follow my Instagram account, you know I have been planning to do a Fourth of July grazing board. This time I had my 14 year old, Layla, help me out and we had a lot of fun working together. Those with teens know how valuable connecting with them is and this was a perfect activity for us. Follow along as I walk you through how I created this patriotic themed board.
Fourth of July Grazing Board
The first step was to determine the food items I wanted for my board. Since this was a patriotic board for the Fourth of July, I knew I wanted to stick to foods and dishes colored red, white, and blue. After I got my list, I went shopping!
I was on the hunt for a star shaped bowl for the salsa and cherries so I stopped at Michael’s and was so excited when I saw these. The also make them in red, but our store only had a blue and white left so I bought what I could. At only $4 each, these were a steal! On top of that I got my 15% military discount and Michaels does the same for teachers if you didn’t already know. 😉
Then, I headed to pick up my food items. I went a few different places so I will share which stores I bought what.
Aldi:
- Fresh Strawberries
- Fresh Blueberries
- White cheddar Cracker Cuts
- Olives
- Turkey Breast Deli Meat
- Tomatoes
- Mozzerella Balls
- Strawberry Cream Cheese
- Fresh Watermelon
- Pepperoni
- Salsa
- Tortilla Chips
- Marshmallows
- Cherries
- Patriotic Sugar Cookies
- White Chocolate Covered Pretzels
- Naan Bread
- Red, white, and blue M&M’s
- Marshmallow Cream
- Blueberry rings
- Watermelon shaped gummy’s
I knew I wanted to cut some of these food items into shapes so we also picked up some multi-sized cookie cutters from Walmart.
I didn’t actually get them but these little American Flags would look great on a patriotic themed board.
After picking up these items, we headed back home to put our board together. First, I mixed up some marshmallow cream and strawberry cream cheese for the fruit dip. If you haven’t tried this yet, it’s so easy and yummy! While I was doing that, Layla helped by using the cookie cutters to cut the watermelon into cute little stars for our fruit skewers.
Layla took some wooden picks we already had from Hobby Lobby and stacked blueberries until she reached the top where she used the star-cut watermelon. Such a cute little idea.
While I added the red cherries to the blue star bowl, Layla created these cute skewers with fresh mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, and pieces of romaine lettuce. We drizzled a balsamic glaze over them before eating.
And lastly, the reveal of the final product.
And here’s Sawyer trying to steal some of the candy on the board while Ken is taking photos.
